A Second Life roleplay community

Welcome to Opaline

A small town built on community, character, and the mysteries that linger after dark.

Small-town stories

Character-driven roleplay

A living community

For newcomers and residents

Something beneath

Not every story is what it seems

Welcome to town

Ordinary lives.
Extraordinary stories.

Opaline is an immersive Second Life roleplay community built around the rhythms of a close-knit mountain town. Residents work, build relationships, run businesses, investigate local trouble, and create stories that grow through shared play.

On the surface, Opaline is familiar: a town square, public services, homes, storefronts, and neighbors who know more than they say. Beneath that everyday life is a supernatural world of old loyalties, hidden histories, and forces most people never see.

Residents

Many lives share one town

Hearthborn

Opaline’s human lineage: neighbors, officials, business owners, first responders, and newcomers building lives in town.

Ridgeborn

Opaline’s werewolf lineage, bound to instinct, shifting, territory, and an old spiritual world alongside the town.

Duskborn

Opaline’s vampire lineage, navigating hunger, secrecy, influence, and the delicate balance between survival and exposure.

Hollowborn

Opaline’s witch lineage, whose varied gifts connect them to forces hidden beneath the town’s ordinary surface.

A calling beyond lineage

Oathborn

Opaline’s hunters are defined by an oath rather than blood. Hearthborn, Ridgeborn, Duskborn, and Hollowborn characters may each become Oathborn when they choose—or inherit—the duty of confronting supernatural threats.

Character classification: Oathborn is added alongside a character’s primary lineage; it does not replace it.

An old Opaline warning

From hearth and ridge, from dusk and hollow,
Four roads the ancient spirits follow.
Walk them wisely, keep the Veil.
Or every soul shall know the tale.

Community life

Stories happen together

Town gatherings, business openings, investigations, civic meetings, rituals, celebrations, and player-led scenes keep Opaline moving. Residents can attend scheduled events or begin smaller stories of their own.

Before you begin

Roleplay with respect

01

Story over winning.
Collaborate to create memorable scenes rather than treating roleplay like a competition.

02

Consent matters.
Communicate about intense themes, respect boundaries, and give others room to shape their characters.

03

Keep knowledge separate.
Your character should act only on information they have learned through roleplay.

04

Protect the setting.
Keep supernatural knowledge appropriately hidden and preserve Opaline’s grounded, small-town tone.
